GoFundMe
STORM'S FUND has been started to help rescued pets that are in danger of being put to sleep find sanctuary, whether it be transportation to a no-kill rescue, vet care, or housing/boarding. We provide a NO-KILL adoption program to help animals in need find loving homes. Storm's fund will focus mainly on animals that were adopted originally from a rescue or shelter that have found themselves ONCE AGAIN facing euthanasia. Please read about Storm's case below.

STORM HAS BEEN ADOPTED!Storm and his new brother
Thanks to the support of our contributors, volunteers and transport drivers, Storm has found a loving family that will give him the love of a forever family that he truly deserves. He is a great dog, and we are so thankful that he found such a great home!

UPDATE 6/30/14: Thanks to the help of our supporters, Storm has made it on a transport OUT of animal control, down to southern Illinois, where he will be temporarily fostered until another foster family is found, or better yet, a NEW FAMILY! We are accepting online applications for him at www.DogsFromMars.net!

UPDATE 6/27/14: Storm will be put to sleep on Tuesday, June 1st! We must have a foster or adoption commitment for him by the end of this weekend! We need YOUR HELP!

Storm is a sweet ~3 year old white German Shepherd/Lab mix. He was adopted through our no-kill program as a puppy in June of 2011. After owning him for almost exactly 3 years, his adopters decided that they no longer wanted him. They texted us on June 23rd and asked if we could 'come pick up the dog today', and a MARS team member responded and asked that they email our office with more information so we could assist them, but given that our shelter is located 6 hours away from where the adopters were located, we could not get him that day. They did not email us, and we did not hear anything further from them.
On June 25th we were contacted by Joliet Township Animal Control. His owners attempted to drop him off at Joliet A.C., stating that they had to move THAT DAY and could not keep Storm. They were informed that if they left Storm there, he would be put to sleep and they needed to contact the rescue they adopted him from originally.  Apparently, this did not bother the adopters at all, becuase after Joliet A.C. closed for the day, the adopters DUMPED HIM there. This is especially sad because his owners KNEW his fate when they left him there, and they did not even TRY to bring him back to us! POOR GUY! Even sadder is the fact that we had a transport go right by Joliet on June 22nd, so if they had given us even a few days notice, we could have worked with them to get Storm to a safe place right off the bat, instead of putting him in horrible situation. This is the photo we recieved the day he was dumped at Joliet A.C.
