Meet Lacey!
Lacey is an approximately 9 month old puppy who is very sweet and very active. She is about 40 pounds and we suspect has some chocolate lab with a variety of other breeds in her mix. She has a lot of energy and loves to run in a fenced yard, chase her ball, and play with her nylabone. She loves everyone and enjoys cuddling once she has used up some of her energy. She is crate trained and has been through basic obedience class. She is pretty good at sit and down and seems to like roll over, though we haven’t worked on that much. She likes cats, but they are sometimes irritated with her energy and pawing at them. She loves to play with kids, but would probably be better with older kids as she hasn’t really learned not to jump and still has some puppy "mouthiness" (puppies learn about the things around them by putting things in their mouths, but we recommend discouraging this behavior right away, and we are happy to assist you).
Lacey is looking for a new home after being adopted through our program as a puppy by a family with an older dog. Unfortunately, as Lacey grew up, the older dog's behavior changed towards her. Lacey did very well with the older dog at first and loved to play, but the older dog decided she was not fond of Lacey being there and started arguments with her. Because the older dog attacked her a few times, she would do best with another friendly, playful dog, or as an only dog for an active family. She is currently being fostered until a new family can be found for her.

- Please note that because our shelter is located in southern Illinois, about 3 hours south of Champaign, our animals are available for adoption in Champaign only during scheduled events, and are available in Murphysboro, IL between events, by appointment.
