Meet Kaya!
This sweet playful girl was found as a stray in Southern Illinois. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate her owner or anyone who had information about where this poor girl came from. She loves to play and gets along well with other dogs and kids. We would not recommend her for a family with cats (she *really* likes chasing them). She would love to have a fenced in yard to play in, and would enjoy walking and hiking. She does need work on leash training (she does pull, which is very common for Huskies and Husky mixes). She seems to be potty trained when let out on a regular schedule, but all rescued pets require an adjustment period while they learn about their new home. She has stunning pale blue eyes and a soft, smooth coat.

*SPECIAL INFO REGARDING COVID-19 AND PET ADOPTIONS
Due to the current public health concerns, our animals are only available for private meetings in Murphysboro, Illinois (no "adoption events" at this time). We are providing scheduled meetings with one staff member and the pet you are interested in, and asking that adopters bring as few people with them to the meeting as possible, for the health and safety of our staff and your family. Face coverings are required during all interactions with our staff, and we will observe social distancing during the meeting.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all work together to stay safe and healthy while finding loving homes for the animals in our program.
Applications are usually processed within ONE BUSINESS DAY. Once approved, you will be able to schedule a meeting with an available animal!
Our shelter is located in southern Illinois, and our animals are available for meetings in Murphysboro, IL, by appointment.
